Review of Children of Men (2006) by Aaron W — 23 Aug 2012
I'd rather they'd been after a suitcase of money, because I'd have believed it. I like the vision of the future presented here, which is an allegory of the present. But the premise is completely unbelievable, and does not really add much to what is really a futuristic chase.
Michael Caine excels in a wonderful cameo. As does Peter Mullen as a corrupt policeman. The pine forests of East Sussex are a little hard to find in real life. Some nice little twists, but ultimately a completely pointless and unsatisfying ending.
I was waiting for the great wow moment "so that's what it's really about" and it never came.
