Review of Children of a Lesser God (1986) by Wendy M — 24 Jan 2010
Performances by hurt and matlin were powerful and would have been made more powerful had the film given matlin her own voice. sign language is just that--a language. I don't seed why the filmmakers didn't treat it like any other language and put sarah's signs in subtitles instead of having james repeat practically everything sarah said.
it's like they gave sarah not only an interpreter, but they gave her...running out of time--will finish later...
