The book is one of the best horror novels to be released in a long time. The movie? Well, it's not as bad as it could've been. By no means perfect, it still has some pretty effective moments. Starts out a bit silly, but gets better as the movie progresses.
It's still better than 95% of the crap that comes out every month. Check it out!
