Review of Chicken Little (2005) by Eric O — 28 Nov 2012
Well, it seems like not a whole lot of people have anything nice to say about this movie. Yeah, the story is disjointed and it doesn't have any BEA-YOO-TI-FUL musical numbers, but c'mon, it's funny and inventive (using an orange soda to reach the 3rd story window, the mayor having cue cards for every single action he does, "curse these genetically tiny legs!"). I guess I just don't get why everyone hates this movie so much... I think it's just fine.
3.5/5 stars.
UPDATE:
Okay, I was a little off in my previous review. There are some funny non-toilet-humor gags in this film, but it's true that there's not a whole lot going for it under the surface. The plot is a bit of a mess; in the third act the Dad is so enthusiastically "proud" of his son to the point where it's almost unconvincing, the dialogue falls flat a few times. It's not as awful as many would suggest, but it's not Disney's finest hour.
3/5 stars.
