Review of Chéri (2009) by Shannon M — 16 Jan 2010

I was disappointed in this movie but was not unsatisfied either. There was a strange but interesting story but the film felt unorganised and poorly developed. Rupert Friend portrayed the character of Cheri with elegance and depth but I felt that Michelle Pfeiffer was bland as the films leading Lady.

Kathy Bates brought colour and excitement to the film, which is what saved it from being a total disaster. Despite being a period romantic drama, this is not one to take your grandparents to as it has a surprising and unnecessary level of sex scenes.

All in all, this movie is pretty average and not one that I intend on watching again.
