Review of Che: Part One (2008) by James S — 04 Jul 2009
Excellent work by Soderbergh and the cast. For too long Che has been an icon, altho fictional (factional?) this film paints a far more rounded view of the man. A nice mix with the timeline adds to the interest and it's nothing like a warfilm, almost documentary-like.
Amusingly in the extras Soderbergh says he had no interest in doing the story in the style of the trailers - boy, was he right, viewing those you'd think it was an action film. Far from it, it is intelligent and detailed.
Seeing this film and The Motorcycle Diaries might open a few peoples eyes if they see it.
