Review of Chasing Mavericks (2012) by Brad S — 06 Aug 2013

I'm a sucker for surf movies...the sound and scenery. So while this movie plays a lot like an after school special, it still has some great cinematic moments that elevate it above its usual genre trifle.

Butler is the best of the cast, even if he does get a bit too preachy at times. All in all, you get a PG movie with Chasing Mavericks, meaning it couldn't really give us the best story it could, but there's just enough for it to rise out of its roots and sparkle for awhile.
