Review of Cemetery Junction (2010) by The D — 21 Sep 2010
Pleasant if a little twee nostalgia trip back to 1973 from Gervais/Merchant.
Living in a small town that seemed to miss the swinging sixties three lads spend their time drinking, joking, chasing girls, fighting & finding themselves in a jail cell most nights.
Freddie wants the 2.4 children life & tries to distance himself form the current lifestyle where as his friends both carry on as if nothing has changed saying they will leave but are scared to do so.
As the tale goes on things happen to change the attitudes of each young adult from love to realisation to reconcilliation.
It's nicely played by all with reserved but solid performances from Fiennes, Reid & Gervais himself and cameo's for Stephen Merchant & Karl Pilkington no less.
Fairly charming but not a laugh out loud comedy drama but it is worth watching.
