Review of Cemetery Junction (2010) by Peter A — 09 Oct 2010
Quiet and understated, this was not what I was expecting from Gervais and Merchant but was decent enough on its own terms. This is a coming of age tale set in Reading in 1973 and follows the fortunes of 3 friends through the trials of trying to find their place in the world. Ricky gervais takes a back seat and showcases the young talent of Hughes, Cooke and Doolan take centre stage. Ralph Fienes is suitably creepy as the slick insurance salesman and has the star turn here.
A little bit slow but with enough heart and pathos to keep you engaged till the end.
