Review of Cedar Rapids (2011) by Kyle S — 10 Apr 2012
Ed Helms plays a masterful role as a 30 something Insurance Agent whos life is in neutural to say the least. Cedar Rapids is a coming of age tale for adults, and about adults, specifically Helms character who has never truly left the "nest" so to speak.
He goes to an Insurance Seminar and lives the cliche themes of Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll. More specifically he realizes that there is more than what he knows of life and although I have scene this equation for a film before (many times actually) and it's one of the most over played plot used today, however with Ed Helms and John C.
Reily added in for some raunchy humor, "Cedar Rapids nails the cliche plot and makes it an exeptional comedy that although familiar, will keep people interested and laughing throughout. I was surprised by the films charm and by Helms acting which I really didn't like before watching this film.
Not a perfect film by any means however "Cedar Rapids" is about as solid as a big budget comedy comes these days and you should invest time in seeing it.
