Review of Cat People (1982) by Brian Daniel L — 03 Nov 2009
The first time I watched this film, I detested it. That was because I was making the mistake of comparing it to the 1942 original, rather than watching it as its own film. When I watched it the second time, I really, really liked it.
I've always thought the score to the film is one of the greatest film scores of all time. I'll go through weeks of playing it non-stop in my car. Nastassia Kinski is gorgeous in the leading role, and Malcolm McDowell creates an eerie presence.
Kinski plays Irena, a direct descendent of the cat people. Her brother (McDowell) longs to help her fulfill her destiny.
