Review of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) by Andrew C — 03 Jul 2011
Fantastic film. At first the premise seemed very convoluted, but once I really became invested in the movie, I couldn't walk away. At first I thought the film was belong to Liz Taylor, but Paul Newman really stole the spotlight.
Both of their performances were full of emotion and energy, but Newman's portrayal of a drunken, emotionally broken and tortured soul really causes the viewer to feel for his character. My only complaint is that the film is about 20 min too long, especially the scene where Newman's character reconciles with his father.
The scene was touching for the most part, but the extended length wasn't necessary.
