Review of Casualties of War (1989) by Joel A — 29 Mar 2010
I'm usually not to impressed with war films, they have to tough/interesting subject matter to keep me involved. This film does, it has an in your face subject matter but the reality of it...ie if it was you who had to make a choice is the most confronting aspect.
Penn is good but not great very cocky and I have seen him do a lot of better stuff, to me Fox is the standout his performance is really good, he is the most interesting to watch. The end is a little rushed but the film itself flows well Brian De Palma directs the tension very well. One of the better modern war films around...
