Review of Cassandra's Dream (2007) by Petros T — 06 Feb 2011
One of Allen's top films, this isn't the typical Woody comedy. First of all, it's no comedy. Second, it's brutal. It's got no violence but the themes it deals with (murder, madness, depression) are not sweet ones.
In fact, one can hardly identify Allen behind the camera, his only two trademarks left being the music and a line about a ship with black sails. Loosely connected to "Match Point", it is every bit as deep thanks to a daring script, tight direction and an excellent protagonistic duo.
