Review of Cassandra's Dream (2007) by Toni T — 14 Aug 2008
Although the plot has been used before (and to much greater effect) Woody Allen's "Cassandra's Dream" is successful in that it still manages to build a substantial level of suspense. We're definitely never sure of what's about to happen, but the conclusion left me thinking of a few other ways it should have ended.
Also, the film often seemes to be in hyperdrive, like Allen directed his actors to say their lines at absurd rates of speed. This rhythm invalidates the otherwise appropriate dialogue. Stick with Allen's "Match Point," a movie with similar motives and superior execution.
