Review of Casino Jack (2010) by Tom S — 09 Dec 2010
Interesting film, indeed entertaining, with great locations and an engaging story about the corruption and hypocrisy of US government. Though it lacks freshness of similar films like Casino 15 years ago, nor does it have its conviction, intensity and clarity.
Spacey at times doesn't seem to care about his role or is that his character or both? - That compared to a (still) fiery deniro playing a fiery rothstein, a great character in a great script compared to the narrative meanderings of this script, which might have been supplemented by fire in the direction, but it's not.
So this film says nothing that hasn't been said already and better but it is still well above average, it's intelligent and entertaining.
