Review of Carol (1974) by Josh F — 26 Apr 2016
I really didn't know what to expect from Carol. I was thinking it would either be that Oscar buzz film of the year that I just wasn't crazy about, or I would just flat out love it. Well...turns out it's the second one. I absolutely adore this movie. Carol tells an extremely important story that involves both humanity and sexuality. I can't remember the last time I saw a love story that had so much meaning to it, and actually made you care about the main characters. Not a single moment of Carol feels weak or wasted. Cate Blanchett gives one of the best performances of her career, and Rooney Mara excels as well.
Grade: A+.
