Review of Carnival of Souls (1962) by Sean N — 06 Apr 2009
A slow moving, atmospheric, low budget horror. The plain settings are draped with black and white, the ghosts are actors with simple white and black face paint and instead of jump scares the film relies on its score to carry its chilling mood.
So if you're a fan of horror movies from the year 2000 and up you'll hate this because there's no CGI rollercoasters, over-conceptualized monsters, or jump scares. This film was made at a time when people who cared about the horror genre did it out of love and care.
