Review of Caramel (2007) by Kristina G — 09 Nov 2009
A beautiful Lebanese film about love, relationships & societal norms (taboos also) from the perspective of five Lebanese women who hang out at a beauty shop. Nadine Labaki's script and direction is first rate, considering that this was her first directorial foray.
The story of Rose and her sister Lilli is my favorite and a tear jerker. Who knew caramel could be used to remove hair from all parts of the human body! Gotta try it one of these days!!
