Review of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) by Markus P — 15 May 2014
Captain America: The First Avenger has near perfect first half, setting up the story of Steve Rogers and providing a refreshing change for modern superhero movies by taking place during World War Two, however this is all thrown away during the second half where the plot seems to dissolve and becomes a senseless jump around excuse for action sequences.
Hugo weaving gives a good performance as Red Skull and Chris Evans doing well as the lead with the material he is given. However the movie never does seem to excel to its full potential but never does crash and burn to an absolute heap due to the solid first act of the movie.
