I can't remember the last time I saw a movie start off with so much promise but so quickly and thoroughly fall apart by the end. It was engaging enough at the beginning that I was willing to cut it some slack for some of its logic problems (like why none of the fake Mars mission footage couldn't have been pre-taped). But by the time Elliott Gould and Telly Savalis were eluding government helicopters over the Mojave in a crop dusting plane, and James Brolin was hanging onto one of the wings of the plane for dear life...
No. You read that last part right.
