Review of Cantinflas (2014) by Jorel D — 18 Sep 2014
It is quite the different movie that should have gotten more publicity! In the movie culture we lack this type of variety and work. I'm glad Cantinflas was brought to the screen, and portreyed by not only someone who looks alike, but someone who accurately nailed the acting! Oscar Jaenada gives the audience a taste of what the real Cantinflas was like through this biographical film that takes you through the begining, and pinnacle of his career.
Though scenes tend to jump back and forth, which was hard to get used to at first figuring out what came first...the film, for being a first of it's kind was well executed. It references the 1956 movie "Around The World In 80 Days" where Cantinflas starred along side with David Niven as part of an important part in his career which now has me very curious to see that movie next! Cantinflas is Mexico's greatest comedian of all time and a legend even after his death.
I'm glad a movie was made about his life for people to see and get to know. Cantinflas may sadly not last too much longer in theaters... again needs more opportunity, but with that, give yourself the opportunity and see it before it fades from theaters!
