Review of Candyman (1992) by Jj G — 26 Apr 2009
Eh this movie was ok nothing great. I was expecting much better. I did like Virginia Madsen's performance in the film. Then theres Tony Todd just as creepy as ever. Although he wasnt in the film as much as I would have liked.
The gore scenes were great I just wish there were more of them. The plot was interesting: say Canday Man five times in the mirror and the Candyman appears. I was kinda bored at times, which is surprising, I was expecting to be very entertianed by this.
I mean it could have gotten 4 stars if only it had more suspence and more apperances from the villian! I mean come on,this movie was all talk and not enough action! They needed to push the bar alittle bit,but nope.
I cant see why this is a cult film,at least I think its regarded as one. This movie is far from becoming a favorite of mine in terms of horror, I thought it might before seeing the film. What was I thinking?? Well I dont hate it,but I think thats mainly due to Virgina Madsen, good eye candy lol.
At least something did come out of watching this film. To stay away from the sequals....I'm sure there are even worse. They dont even have Madsen so why even think about it. Some horror fans might enjoy this, but I think most will be greatly dissapointed like I was.
