Review of Candyman (1992) by Natalie S — 23 Jun 2009
There's a lot of undercurrents in this film which make it more than the standard slasher movie, though it ticks all the boxes if that's your thing (it isn't generally mine). Leaving aside the compelling, charismatic presence of Tony Todd, there are issues of urban decay, race, psychology (is there a candyman or is our heroine just completely psychotic?) Ooh, I feel a dissertation coming on!
The sequel sucked tho.
