Review of Calvaire (2005) by Eddie G — 24 Jul 2011
This is delightfully zany at times and painfully irritating at other times. There is some slick editing and fancy cinematography throughout, but in these instances, this is style over substance. However, I do enjoy the weirdness.
The script is extremely flawed and flat-out doesn't make sense at times. The old guy reminds me of a Belgian Paul Giamatti -- in a good way, because he does a heck of a job in his role. The main guy isn't so great in his role.
All he does is whine and cry and it's honestly not convincing and pretty annoying.
