Complete insanity. This movie makes Cannibal Holocaust look like Turbo: A Power Rangers movie.
Ridiculously violent and filled with some of the most hardcore sex scenes ever put on film, its hard to believe there are many people that actually make it through this movie's lengthy run-time.
To be fair, I am watching the unrated version but i'd say this is the one to watch since its much truer to the life of the real Caligula. After all, his life was full of sex, sex, violence and more sex so a movie about him would have to be full of those things. And then some. And boy is this movie ever.
If you don't like the idea of watching a violent orgy for 3 hours then this movie probably isn't for you, but if you want to see a shockingly accurate depiction of the life of one of Rome's craziest Emperor's then why not give it shot? Its not nearly as awful as people may have you believe, its just silly. Just make sure you don't eat anything before, during, after or ever again.
