(2012) Butter.
COMEDY.
Quite amusing movie co-produced and starring Jennifer Garner imitating her best impression of Sarah Palin. She plays Laura, a controlled freak of a wife who's married to a husband who consistently wins butter sculpture competitions until the mayor steps in for a request to her hubby Bob(Ty Burrell) to allow one person to win at least one. So the wife enters instead and the person entering against her is an African American gifted 10 year old foster child Destiny (Yara Shahidi) who has a knack for sculpting who also happens to be the film's narrator as well. Also starring is Alicia Silverstone as Jill, and Rob Corddry as Ethan the parents who adopted Destiny, Olivia Wilde as Brooke the stripper, Ashley Greene as Laura and Bob's rebellious daughter, and an unusual role for Hugh Jackman as sleazy car dealer Boyd Bolton. Although, I didn't think "Butter" was even remotely funny, it was fascinating to see professional actors portraying or mocking how wealthy southern people sometimes act, and have fun doing it without the viewers cringe. I also like the idea of the single African American 10 year old being portrayed as more civilized than some white collared self absorbed redneck adults for it can be looked as anyone can be anything despite where they originally come from.
2.5 out of 4 stars.
