Review of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) by Kieran B — 05 Feb 2013
Bank robbers in the wild west, showing they are real human beings with the same characteristics as all of us and looks just like a job occupation.
What the film does is take you on a journey, I mean the chase scene is cinemographic history, it feels asif I am with the two of them exploring historic America not many films can capture history on film but this feels so real with beatufil locations.
Butch and his gang are very famous and the general public do not even seem bothered and they really shoudn't because they are fighting against the goverment.
Now Obviously this was all going on at the same time as the civil war and logically it's perfect time to be robbing trains and banks because most men are at war.
When Butch and Sundance are chased what seems a gumball across the west we are as shocked as Butch and Sundance because they seemed determined to catch them.
Tthe film is most famous for its bicycle scene because it's very diffrent from other westerns. Instead of the duels and show downs we have a score of 'raindrops are 'falling on my head', at the time I think the audience found this bizare because of the usual grity western but when we look back now this song optimizes Butch and Sundance.
The script is beautiful written a line is not wasted, where some films you want them to shut up, this one you want to hear more.
Butch and Sundance where the biggest outlaws of their time and I can't really say whether the film is historically correct but the ending is rather a dissapointment.
Surrounded by Bolivian army they suicide into their ammunition.
Overall the film is a western showing a historic side of America and I particularly loved Robert Redfords performance as Sundance kid and is one of the greatest and admirable character's I have ever seen and Brad Pitt resembles him a lot.
