Review of Burnt Offerings (1976) by Aaron B — 20 Oct 2011
This wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. A "horror" movie starring Oliver Reed and Karen Black as a couple who, with their son and Reed's aunt Bette Davis, rent out a giant old house for the summer.
Of course, they aren't alone, they have to look after an 85 year old lady who lives in the house who we never see. It's sort of trying to be like Amityville Horror or The Shining but it just fails.
It's overlong and not enough happens to make it even somewhat creepy. And it's pretty predictable what's gonna happen. I did like the finale, but it was too late in the movie to really save it.
Oh well.
