Review of Burke & Hare (2010) by Paul B — 10 Nov 2010
The outlandish, broad and overly slapstick humour may appeal to some, but I never found it the least bit funny. The drama was underplayed and the minute possibilities for jokes were wrung dry, leaving the film without any sense of depth or intrigue.
In short, there was nothing at stake to care about and the performances were just plain and simple. The editing was also very slapdash, making the film feel like it's had a lot cut out. All in all a rushed and insubstantial movie where the only good thing about it is the abundance of celebrity cameos, from Stepehn Merchant to Christopher Lee to even Michael Winner.
