The fact that the filmmakers are able to (mostly) successfully find some humor in this dark period of history at least deserves some amount of credit, and, while the movie isn't mind-blowing, it's still subtly funny, twisted, and doesn't really do anything wrong.

The genre certainly also plays to the strengths of many of the cast members.
