Review of Burke & Hare (2010) by Paul D — 24 Oct 2014
Landis is the absolute king of 'hit & miss'. To have both The Blues Brothers and Oscar on your CV is somewhat impressive. This is more hit than miss, but that's thanks to the Best Of British cast (minus Gervais and Frost).
The film keeps moving, there are plenty of jokes, and the acting is all good (Corbett steals the film though). It does play things safely and for a self-confessed semi-true story, it doesn't push into the lands of comedy gold when it could.
It's enjoyable - nothing more, nothing less.
