Review of Bullets Over Broadway (1994) by Vidal H — 10 Jul 2008
I watched this one over a decade ago and somehow it never let a good taste, but I retried it and it was very entertaining this time around! I really enjoyed the 1920s setting in New York City with all the mobsters and Broadway scenes! Woody Allen shows again that he can get the best of out his actors! Chazz Palminteri is wonderful as the mob enforcer who becomes so attached to the mob-financed play that he becomes an active influence in the writing of the play itself and goes to extreme measures to ensure that the play is a success! John Cusack does a good Woody Allen impersonation as the main writer of the play who must balance between his love of the craft and commercial interests! Jennifer Tilly does a good joke of herself as the talentless actress with a real annoying voice! The rest of the cast is good too! Overall, good stuff from Woody Allen, definitely influenced from old Hollywood!
