Review of Broadway Danny Rose (1984) by Salvatore S — 03 Dec 2007
Woody Allen is the Foo Fighters of the movie business. Everything he creates is exactly the same, yet is still entertaining. However, you just hope and hope that he will change it up a bit and explore the depths of his skill.
If you have seen a Woody Allen movie before, you already know the plot. Nebbish Woody Allen + disproportionately attractive actress + zany adventure.
Allen consistently shines in the dialogue portions. Great one-liners really make this movie enjoyable. But what takes away are the slapstick portions. Helium voice? C'mon Woody you can do better than that.
If Allen were to take his fantastic dialogue and apply it in a more serious sense, as he does in Annie Hall, this could have been more than another "Woody Allen movie.".
