This was shmaltzy but sometimes a little sentiment is just what the doctor ordered. A smart commentary on "info-tainment" prescient for 1987. The characters are believable. A little dated and Albert Brooks is a little too commercial but at least he is smart and entertaining.
Some truly awful eighties hair and outfits add to the entertainment value. I loved Joan Cusack big hair and all. She is fantastic on Shameless. She has a loopy charm.
