Review of Broadcast News (1987) by Matt G — 24 Feb 2017
Unexpected shifts in emotion leading to erratic human behavior. Those were the scenes that work best. Seems like William Hurt was the ultimate 80s alpha male. Holly Hunter was the ultimate 80s more-cute-than-beautiful girl next door with a go-getter personality.
She's really great. And then James Brooks casts himself in a role that could be considered self-loathing (perhaps too aware that he will be directing himself). But it provides a nice balance, the three of them.
Interesting world to set a romantic comedy.
