Review of Broadcast News (1987) by Jeffrey C — 20 Nov 2010
Definitely the greatest/most effective movie about modern journalism and the ethics of the news industry and the danger of an industrial complex of modern media. It has a great sense of humor and is serious and dramatic when it needed to be.
William Hurt and Holly Hunter had fantastic chemistry and both displayed the two extremes of a workaholic and lifeaholic. Even though William Hurt's character was supposed to be the simpleton of the story, he seemed to have the greatest grasp on reality, but fell flat when it came to moral high ground, not necessarily because he was a bad person, but because he didn't know any better.
It's a movie that was relevant in the 80's and even more relevant today with our current dilemma of cable news corruption.
