Review of Bringing Out the Dead (1999) by Conn M — 04 Mar 2011
I am gald I watched this mainly because I've seen nearly everything that Scorsese has done and also I wanted to see why everyone thinks this is one of Nicolas Cages best performances. I wasn't disappointed at all.
Scorsese really captures the dark and seedy nightlife that lies within any big city. He shows us in true depth how it can have a massive effect for the worst if one is constantly living and working in it.
Nicolas Cage does a fantastic job showing us the slow and mental breakdown of the unstable paramedic, Frank Pierce. Its not for the light hearted in a sense that it doesn't show horrific accidents but more so the after effects of the depression, guilt and turmoil that comes with them.
A great watch but it can be a bit to dark for my liking.
