I want to report a GBH, on my brain. This film's allegory beat me senseless with its message of segregation. Not that I think movies shouldn't explore this sort of thing, but in a film where Orcs, Elves, Fairys and Dragons (Dragons!) exist in modern Los Angeles?? I swear there was an interesting concept on paper, but for some ungodly reason the filmmakers wanted to do Lord of the Rings, meets District 9, but stupider.
Oh, and it has some thin wispy plot about a magic wand that annoyingly keeps trying to squeeze its way into the film's allegory. Not that anything matters here anyway, 'fantasy things and stuff' (as I started to think of them as) come forward to be promptly forgotten about almost instantly.
Over two thousand years of living with fantasy creatures and we still have The Alamo and Shrek. This film is a baffling mess that needed more time done on the lore and the script, and less about, as Will Smith puts it, "Fairy lives don't matter[.
..]!".
