Review of Bright (2017) by Matthew H — 25 Dec 2017
Serving up an inedible open-faced sandwich of easy allegories, Bright is a joyless blend of genres devoid of seasoning. Landis has done mythology better, and Ayer has done buddy cop better... Edgerton, with the help of his excellent makeup team, is the lone standout in the cast, opposite a Will Smith who clearly doesn't want to be here and an underutilized Noomi Rapace.
The film keeps moving, so it's never quite boring, just groan-worthy, which in my opinion is better... but only slightly.
