Review of Bright (2017) by Zach%20 C — 12 Sep 2018
Bright is garbage! The concept of bright is a interesting one but its ruined by bad writing and sloppy execution. This movie is a netflix movie but it has a metaphor that its ruined by bad writing and handling sensitive topics without care. This movie takes place in present day LA where humans and fantasy creations live among each other and a human cop played by Will Smith has to become a partner with a orc cop played by Joel Edgerton finds the wand and a evil elf and a mexican gang are after them. This movie has laughly bad lines. One of the lines that is in this movie is "fairy lives don't matter today" this made it into the final cut. This a movie about race but this movie racist against mexicans. Mexicans in this movie are portrayed as angry violent people in this movie. And this is a race allegory, that is just sad. The movies ending is ripped straight out of guardians of the galaxy, that is just lazy. The action scene in the movie feel bland, action scenes are supposed to be exciting but this movie action doesn't feel energetic it just feels bland. People like this movie because it's a race allegory but the bad lines and lazy storytelling, and disrespect to mexicans takes you out of the movie. If the right people worked on this project then it would have been a masterpiece but it ended up with lazy writers and the director of suicide squad, this ended up a mess.
Score D `.
