Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by Daniel I — 21 Nov 2007
Wonderfully British from the start. The representation of class differences and forgiveness is a little contrite but the affair between Laura and the doctor is profound. Love is shown in it purest most inexplicable but painful form, all from the leafy suburbs of the home counties.
A true classic.
