Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by Philip S — 14 Mar 2009
One of the screen's great romances, short and bitter-sweet, superb script and direction (how did David Lean get from intimate character dramas such as this to picture-postcards like LAWRENCE OF ARABIA?), beautifully acted by Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard, with delightful support from Stanley Holloway and Joyce Carey.
