Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by Anastasia B — 16 Oct 2009
An emotional trip down to the last moment of the last day of their acquantance: two people who met and fell in love even though they shouldn't.
To boys: Okay guys...It's a chick flick...and it gets melodramatic but still David Lean's direction and Noel Coward's play offer two steady hands on which the two protagonists depend on for their performances... and they do perform so in a very memorable way.
To girls: this is what your diaries sound like, even today. The inner voice of Laura (Celia Johnson) leads you on and haunts you at the end. I am sure you're gonna need a handkerchief or two before the credits roll.
