Review of Bride of the Monster (1955) by Garry J — 25 Jun 2006
It takes a strange kind of person to sit through yet another Ed Wood movie. Bride is terribly flawed (like the others) but something about watching Wood's films is addictive. Despite the slow pace, bad acting, stock footage, bad props etc; one can almost feel the strained and albeit misguided effort that somehow just did not come through for the good of the film.
Something about his films reminds one of oneself: all by his lonesome, without big studio backing or qualified actors, struggling to make an impact through film and appearing to fail miserably. Sometimes its nice in a weird way to see something so obviously inferior and raw.
