Review of Bride of Frankenstein (1935) by Mark W — 08 May 2011
Made in 1935,Both Dr.Frankenstein and the Monster survived the Burning of the Windmill,The Monster is still at large and longs for a friend,Meanwhile Dr.Frankenstein is blackmailed by the evil Dr.Pretorious to create a Mate for his creation,This has to be my no.
1 favorite Universal Monster Movie, amongst other things it has laughs and even a few moving scenes too.Karloff is at his career best as the Monster playing it sympathetically and Ernest Thesiger is probably the best mad scientist in film history,I Think everybody can relate to this movie, and its more than just a horror film.
James Whale creates a film that subtly pokes fun at itself while, at the same time, is very serious in it's approach.
