Review of Brick Lane (2007) by Kashtan H — 16 Mar 2008
A breathtakingly shot hap-hazard movie. As I've not read the book, I had to guess stuffs. The movie has tried a lot to look real, but somehow couldn't cut the cheese. The scenes shot in India (shown as Bangladesh) look like master strokes of a painter.
The fact that the Sylheti characters were speaking in normal Bangla was weird too. And the most weird part - the only actor giving dialogs in Sylheti (Christopher Simpson) is an Irish-Greek!!! But yes, Satish Kaushik is just marvelous - that's I'll give happily.
Excellent job by him. Tannishtha looked gorgeous, and that's it.
