Review of Brick Lane (2007) by Radek C — 09 Dec 2009
A lovely tale of immigrant life... it has stark reality interlaced with romanticism and nostalgia. an after-thought- it reminded me of the void that is of the working class, the poor from villages who were the majority of the immigrants who came over to Britain in the sixties, they have never been justly placed on celluloid and regardless of target audience, I for one hope that one day i'll see more of my parents depicted elsewhere, where discussions and insights can be extrapolated, and somewhere other than my own subjective memory store.
a good, albeit pandering to the middle class, effort (this film that is).
