Review of Brick (2006) by Kyle G — 21 May 2012
Brilliantly posed right in the middle of a strange divide: one side is a hard-boiled detective story (ever urgent, witty, and engrossing); the other is a teen romance (goofy, lame, but always endearing).
The characters jump back and forth, from impotence to power, sophomore misadventure to life-or-death struggle, in effortless and amazing ways.
