Very odd movie: highly stylized film noir on a suburban high school campus. Very enjoyable, though. You keep wondering how far they can really take it. Answer: pretty far. I suppose something could be said about how the hard-boiled genre mirrors the turbulence of adolescent social development, but that would probably be a mistake.
I prefer to see it as an interesting exercise, which was fun once, and hope nobody tries to do it again.
